Unlikely (表示事情發生的機會很低，不太會發生)

The weather seems unlikely to change.

(天氣好像不太會變。)
It is highly unlikely that Maria will get into the university with such low scores.

(Maria不可能以這樣低的成績考上這間大學)
John is unlikely to reach before 8:00 AM. 

(John不太可能8點前抵達)

the impossible （似乎）不可能的事

You know it is an impossible thing but still to try. (明知道是不可能的事情还要去尝试。)

next-to-impossible 幾乎不可能

She made so much preparations for this test, it is next-to-impossible if not pass.  (她為這次考试做了這麼多準備，没考過是幾乎不可能的。)

fat chance 

這個词多用来强调自己的看法，認為某件事是絕對不可能的。

类似的表达还有

a slim chance

an outside chance，

用了fat就多一层讽刺戏谑的意味。

eg. He said that he won’t back home at midnight.

他说他不会再在半夜回家了。

eg. Fat chance!

说得好听！（不可能的！）

not gonna happen

字面意思是某事永远不会发生，意思就是这件事是不可能的。

Can we go to seaside this weekend?

这个周末我们能去海边吗？

Not gonna happen. This weekend will be heavy rainy.

那是不可能的，这个周末会下大雨。

out of the question

Out of question是毫無疑問的意思

而out of the question则是不可能的意思。也有办不到的、不予考虑的、根本谈不上的含义。

I want to invite her to my home this night. 今晚我想邀请她来我家。

Out of the question, I am afraid. 恐怕不可能。

that would be unlikely

Likely是可能的意思，這個词组是那不太可能的、没希望的意思。

I want you can give me 10$ to buy ice cream.

我想讓你给我10美金買一个冰淇淋。

That would be unlikely! (那是不可能的。)
